In my years as a Financial Advisor and Small Business Owner I have talked to many people. These people all come from different circumstances and backgrounds. In my position as a Financial Advisor I have had very candid and honest discussions about personal matters that are normally off topic.
This is what I have learned….Everyone has a dream or idea or wish they would like to see come to fruition, but almost no one has a plan.
How can you possibly get to where you want to be without a plan on how to get there?
Anyone who has read “Think and Grow Rich” by Nepolean Hill knows the importance he places on a plan. If you have not read this book, or haven’t in a while, I suggest you do.
But the point of this post is make a plan no matter how basic it might seem. If you have a plan then you have something to hold yourself to. Your chances of success will increase as you now know exactly what is expected of you to reach your goal. If you fail to reach your goal, it is your own fault. You either did not follow through on your plan or it was the wrong plan.
If you just failed to follow through you know who is responsible and why. There is no need to discuss what went wrong or what you can do next time.
But if your plan failed beucase it was not the right plan there are things you can do to fix it. The first thing to do is find someone who has either done it before or has the experience or expertise to show you what you did wrong and what you have to do to get back on track.
This can be a friend, family member, mentor, or even a professional coach like me; shameless plug. But as you put a plan in place and act on that plan you will see results.
